It’s the world famous capital of fountains and the most impressive summer residence of the Russian Tsars. There are more than 150 fountains in the gardens, the tallest water spray is around 23m high. There are all different types of fountains including “trick fountains” with hidden water sprays, which are so enjoyable for the children from all over the world. The residence is situated on the seashore of The Gulf of Finland so water will surround you from all the sides. |

There are four palaces here; one is really big – so called Great Palace, and three small palaces: Monplasir, Marly and Hermitage. The residence was founded by our greatest tsar Peter the Great and was built according his taste. Later on two very famous empresses of Russia – Elizabeth and Catherine the Great used to spend some time here and made some changes. More about Peterhof see on the official site of the museum.. |

The best time for such a tour is summer because fountains work only from the end of May up to the middle of September. The typical excursion will take four hours, including one hour for the way to the residence and one hour for the way back, but you easily can spend the whole day here. Instead of a private car or a coach you can take a hydrofoil, which start from the Winter palace each half an hour and covers the way to Peterhof in 30-40min. In good weather of cause it’s the most enjoyable kind of transportation but you are to be careful – hydrofoils would not go in case of high wind or mist . NB! In high season if you want to see the Great Palace it’s better to order tickets in advance and/or to come with a guide. There are no problems with the access to the gardens. |
