The palace was built in the end of the 18th century in classical style. It’s not as luxurious as Catherine palace, it has no gold in it, rooms are not so huge, but they are extremely, extremely charming!!! May be these rooms are the most beautiful classical interiors in all of Russia. The palace survived the Second World War better than other famous palaces first of all because more items were evacuated and preserved in Siberia, so it’s more original. The residence saved the atmosphere from the 18th century, it has a lot of items which were touched or even made by our tsarina, it’s more like a home, where you easily could imagine the life of Russia Royal couple.
The tour will take around 4 hours (a drive to the residence will take one hour and the same time you will need for the drive back) and easily could be combined with the tour to Catherine palace in Pushkin. More detailed information about this palace you can find on
the official site of the museum.
